MUMBAI: A 25-year-old agent of private bank has been arrested by the Malwani police for raping and beating up a minor girl. The accused, Wasim Ali Mir, is reportedly a close friend of the victim and live in the same neighbourhood. Mir allegedly offered the victim a spiked drink, before he raped her, the police said. When the girl--a 16-year-old student--resisted, he hit her with an iron rod.
"On Saturday afternoon, the victim was at a stationery shop at Gaikwad Nagar in Malwani, when Mir arrived there in an autorickshaw and asked her to accompany him to Aksa beach.

From there, they went to a hotel near Aksa and soon after, Mir offered the girl a drink,'' said senior inspector Jayant Hargude. "After having the drink, the girl was feeling dizzy when Mir asked for sexual favours. When she refused, he hit her with an iron rod on her arm following which, she fainted. Mir took advantage of the situation and raped her. After a few hours, when the victim gained consciousness, he dropped her at a traffic signal close to her house.''
From where she had been dropped off, the victim managed to reach her home. The moment she entered, her mother spotted the injuries on her arm and the girl told her that Mir had assaulted her. She, however, did not say anything about rape, the police said.
"The girl's mother brought her to the Malwani police station where, while talking to the officers, she broke down and narrated everything,'' the police said.
The victim told the police that Mir had a friend along with him during the incident, but the accused has denied it. "We have sent the victim for a medical examination,'' said Hargude. Mir has been remanded in police custody till September 18.
